Amankora Paro
The first Aman property to be introduced to Bhutan, Amankora Paro is located deep within the pine trees, close to Balakha village, and is the largest lodge in the Amankora collection (in total there are five unique lodges in this series and they can be found throughout the Kingdom of Bhutan). Made up of just 24 suites, this property is at an elevation of 2,250 metres and offers spectacular views of and beyond Jhomolhari, a mountain in the Himalayas, and makes for a perfect base to trek up to the iconic Tigers Nest Monastery. Presenting a contrast of rustic elements with contemporary design each suite features wood-burning stoves, a terrazzo bathtub and even a banquette-window seat. In the main building guests will be able to dine on its terrace and spend time in the in-house library, whilst the spa can be found in a separate building and comes complete with a hot-stone bath, cedarwood scented treatment room, yoga suite and sauna and steam rooms. Here guests will have the opportunity to enjoy: guided mountain treks, jeep excursions, guided tours of Paro and an array of hiking and cycling trails – you’ll even be given a ‘top ten’ list of must-do experiences in each Amankora property.
