Osea Island is an idyllic haven of peace and tranquility basking serenely on the Blackwater Estuary, yet remarkably, little over an hour's drive from the city. It is nestled within 4.5 miles of secluded coastline. The island is a sanctuary for wildlife with some breathtaking scenery. Osea has a fascinating and colourful past stretching back some 5000 years. Uncork a good bottle of red as the sun goes down and enjoy musing over the island folklore of scandalous tales and heroic deeds. Surrounded by 550 acres of rustic gardens, orchards, meadows and salt marsh the island has an eclectic mix of accommodation; charming cottages, apartments and grand houses. Silence is possibly the islands biggest luxury and with an absence of street-lighting, traffic and aircraft noise you may sleep deeply and awaken refreshed to the sound of birdsong.

Exclusive hire of the whole island is also possible for private events. It has previously used as a recording studio, wedding venue and party island for hipsters and paparazzi-shy aristocrats. Its self-catering cottages and villas are also available for more normal family holidays and short breaks. There are 4 holiday homes available to rent on the coast. The Manor House, The Captains House, and The Manor Beach Cottages. In the 1980s and 1990s, the homes on Osea were let to a variety of bohemian tenants, including painter Luke Elwes, renegade ex-spy David Shayler and music producers where bands from the Rolling Stones to Adam Ant have recorded here.

In The Village, soak up all the charm and atmosphere of an unspoilt English countryside with a difference. Set around the willow pond, The Village still retains many period features dating back hundreds of years. At the centre is the Clubhouse, a colonial style former chapel complete with a games room, lounge, and facilities which can be booked for family occasions or private dining. The Clubhouse also doubles up as a social hub where you can pick up a fishing rod or take a bicycle to go off and explore the far corners of the island. It backs onto large gardens with a heated swimming pool but still remains only a stones throw from the beaches and coastline.Guests can wander anywhere, help themselves to Raleigh Chloe bikes for the tracks and beaches and borrow DVDs from the library, play pool, table tennis and tennis, or (in summer) swim in the outdoor pool.
