This incredible itinerary takes you to the ‘Roof of the word’; Tibet. Boasting the earth’s highest eco-system plus one of its last remaining wildernesses, this is a very special trip marrying an exploration of Buddhist culture with the natural wonders of the Everest Base camp. Your trip will take in time in the ‘land of the gods’ – capital city Lhasa before journeying through the northern side of Tibet via Shigatse, Tibet’s holy lakes and stunning monasteries which boast vast treasure troves of astronomy, medicine, calligraphy and history. Enjoy a 2 hour walk to the Everest base camp along a large glacial outwash plain and a beautifully photogenic complex of ruins called Rong Chung, where you will also glimpse herds of deer and yak on the hillsides on the way. - Focus on the spiritual atmosphere at Yamdrok Lake (one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet) ; surrounded by mountains, this is a beautiful spot. Lakes are considered sacred by Tibetans (the principle being that they are dwelling places of protected deities) and they believe they are invested with special powers

- Walk each way from Rongbuk Monastery to the Everest Base Camp. Above Rongbuk the valley expands into a large glacial outwash plain
