Discover the beauty of Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia, with a stay at Old Mondoro Camp – a destination ideal for a remote, wildlife-rich safari and an authentic bush atmosphere.
The Hotel
No fences, untamed wildlife, and intimate bush camp ambience. There’s only five chalets at Old Mondoro, meaning a stay here is very much personalised, private and uncrowded. Rustic yet comfortable, each chalet is constructed from natural materials, mixing reed, canvas and limewash-effect stone. Beds are adorned with floaty white drapery, with interiors decorated in a calming, neutral colours, with subtle African touches. The essence of laidback luxury is continued throughout the camp in shared spaces and on the terraces of each room, where an outdoor splash tub overlooks the river and lagoon that surrounding wildlife often frequent.
Amenities & experiences
You’ll likely see elephants, hippos, buffalo, baboons and more naturally moving around camp – sometimes just metres from your room. There’s game drives daily in open 4×4 vehicles with expert local guides, as well as bush walks, and boat and canoe safaris. Despite its rustic setting and remote location, you can expect fantastic dining and seasonal cuisine, typically enjoyed communally in the open-fronted dining area overlooking the river, around the fireplace or served from the traditional Mokoro.
