Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and is compact and hilly with one of its most famous sights - Edinburgh Castle - looming over it. The beautiful mediaeval old town contrasts with the new town which is Georgian in style with neo-classical buildings and pretty gardens. You will be based for 3 nights in the Rocco Forte Balmoral hotel; ideally located you will be able to access all that the city has to offer. Edinburgh isn't just about history - it has Michelin starred restaurants, vibrant nightlife and a buzzing arts scene - the famous Edinburgh fringe festival in the summer is testament to that. Although the famous festival takes place in the warmer months this isn’t just a summer city- Christmas and Hogmanay are particularly atmospheric times of the year in this city. Much of Edinburgh really lends itself to walking - make sure you take in the castle before heading down again to Parliament Square and the Great Hall at Parliament house; home of the high courts in Scotland, but don't forget to look up there are some stunning paintings there too. Surely one of Europe’s most beautiful cities; Edinburgh is a wonderful choice for a 3 night trip being compact enough to allow you to pack in the sights you will want to see.

  • Met and transferred from Edinburgh airport; you will then reside for 3 nights in the Balmoral hotel – this is 5 minutes’ walk from the old town and an Edinburgh landmark by itself
  • The Balmoral offers a Michelin starred restaurant and the Palm court venue; perfect for afternoon tea
  • You’ll want to check out the Royal Mile and the Queen’s residence- Holyrood Palace – all within easy reach of your hotel
  • The Balmoral offers a fine spa; great for a soothing foot massage after you have pounded the pavements sightseeing
  • If you’ve a head for heights we recommend a rooftop tour of the Thistle chapel at St Giles Cathedral; nearby to Parliament square
  • Famed for art – the Scottish National Gallery of modern Art is nearby and well worth a look as are it’s beautiful grounds

The Balmoral

Executive Room | Including Breakfast | 3 Nights

This flagship property of the Rocco Forte group is an Edinburgh landmark in its own right. It has a central location near to Waverley Rail station, Princes street and is also a 5 minute walk to the old town and the National Gallery. It is a lovely example of the Victorian re-imagining of renaissance architecture and the palm court where afternoon tea is served with its high domed is a fine example of this and the heart of the hotel.
