Jamala Madikwe, Royal Safari Lodge
In the Madikwe Game Reserve, the safari experience is remarkable and awe-inspiring in the hands of the Jamala Madikwe team. The owner is the manager and has a hands on approach to the running of the camp to guarantee that each guest is welcomed like royalty. Personal in approach and delivering a bespoke service, it is a tribute to the care and attention to detail that is strived for. Having won the award for Best Safari Cuisine served by award winning chef Nico Verster, culinary indulgences are delivered time and time again. Colonial glamour and African elegance are tastefully combined for the timeless safari setting that exudes luxury. The Main lodge is designed to bring guests together, around the library lounge and fireplace. Work on your photography from the day’s game drive, or exchange stories around the fire, collecting animal sightings as the days go on. A day on safari is to walk on ancient land and watch the natural theatre play out as you watch the animals in the Reserve. Sightings of the Big 5, Super 7 and 300 bird species are all awaiting the camera lens. Twice daily game drives at dawn and dusk are designed to capture the wildlife at their most active, before the noonday heat settles then down to hide from the sun.
