You will begin your trip in Athens; one of the world’s oldest cities and the capital of Greece. Athens was the cradle of ancient Greek civilisation and is incredibly special to see with its collection of 5th century BC buildings dotting the city skyline; the UNESCO world heritage site of the Acropolis being the most iconic. Its fair to say that most of us are aware of Athens ancient history; however today it also boasts a burgeoning dynamic pop up restaurant scene housed in some of the more off the beaten track districts along with new architecture such as Renzo Piano’s Headquarters for the Greek national opera. You will venture on from Athens to the coast of the Eastern Peloponnese region where you will spend five nights relaxing in the gorgeously tranquil surroundings of Amanzoe. The Peloponnese region is home to UNESCO ruins and is close to the islands of Spetses and Hydra should you wish to venture further afield. This trip is a glorious introduction to the Greek mainland combining the bustle of Athens with a peaceful coastal retreat to follow.
- Why not begin your stay in Athens by discovering ‘museum mile’; take a walk down Vasilissis Sofia Avenue and explore Greece through museums; Cycladic Art and Byzantine treasures are all on display.
- The Acropolis is surely the main draw in Athens and an absolute must see; however be sure to make the climb to the Parthenon first thing- avoid the searing temperatures
- Don’t neglect modern Athens – why not take a trip to Stavros Niarchos park and enjoy these lovely parklands dotted with fantastic picnic spots
- You will journey from Athens to the Peloponnese in style by a 25 minute helicopter ride before touching down at the stunning Amanzoe – your glorious oasis for the next week
- If you are feeling adventurous take a boat trip further afield and discover the islands of Hydra or Spetses
- Relaxing is the order of the day at Amanzoe so be sure to take the short drive to the private beach club to spend the day
